01/02/10: After a long break what with band members being busy / out of the country we were hoping to get gigging again late last month. Things don't always go to plan though, and Hannah sustained an injury in the form of a broken toe while abroad. This is worse than it sounds unfortunately, and as she is under strict orders to take extra care of it to prevent further damage, she is unable to sing for us for the next couple of months. Because of this we did have to cancel a couple of gigs, The Queens in Torpoint and The Quay Side in Looe, big apologies to those venues!! The good news is we have managed to find a stand in singer to cover the gigs that Hannah can't do. Her name is Helen and after auditioning her, we all came away very impressed!

No two singers are alike so expect a slightly different sound if you manage to catch one of her gigs.

So to sum up, Hannah get well soon and thank you Helen for helping us out!

21/10/09: Quick note to say that we are now cooking on gas again (as they say), Becky has slotted in with the VK fold perfectly and we are really pleased with the way things are going. She can't be with us at our gig in Bere Alston social club this Saturday (24th Oct) due to previous commitments so Niall is kindly stepping in to work his magic on the tubs once again. Thank you to all the venues for your faith and support during the transitional lineup period. Big thanks also to Glenn and Niall for keeping the show on the road.

We will be playing at the Staddy in Plymstock on Halloween, dressed for the occasion!!

08/09/09: We have bad news followed by good news again. It was a sad day in the VK camp when Steve announced that he was leaving the band permanently. We will all certainly miss having him being around and working with him. Steve has played a massive part in the band from day one, and we could never have got this far with out him. With Steve leaving the band we are also loosing Steve's partner Lou, who, although not a band member, was as good as one. She put loads of time and work in for us, and was happy for us to take over her front room on a regular basis for band practices too! We wish them both all the best for the future and thank them for all their hard work and commitment. Hope to see you soon guys, all the best....

Now on to the good news. We have Glenn, who previously stood in for Steve for a few gigs, to fill in for us on Friday in the Mutley Crown gig. Sadly we don't have a stand in drummer for the Ivy Live and Tavirock Festival so we have had to pull out of those gigs. Apologies to the organisers of both. Oh no that's bad news isn't it! Well the next paragraph should make up for it.....

We are very pleased to announce that we have found a new drummer already. Welcome to the band Becky. We are all very pleased to have you on board! Becky will be joining us for gigs as soon as possible.

We are still taking gig bookings, either via this web site or by calling 07971 376 155 or 07738 445 903. The four of us are very excited about the future VK. Hope to see ya'l soon....

29/07/09: Steve made a welcome return back to the band for last Saturday's gig at the Pretoria. Massive thankyous from all of us go to Glenn for standing in for him.

05/06/09: We have bad news and good news for you today. The bad news is that our drummer Steve is going to be out of action for a while for medical reasons. He will be playing with us at the Mutley Crown tonight and the Staddy tomorrow, before stepping out for a recovery period. The good news is we have found a stand in drummer to cover for Steve while he recovers. So, introducing Glenn on loan from the band "Tetrapod". Glenn's first gig with us is on the 26th of June in the Mutley Crown and from then he will be joining us for the next few months until Steve can hold on to his sticks again. Welcome aboard Glenn me hearty!

14/04/09: We very much enjoyed our gig in the Mutley Crown on Friday, great crowd! We also have some kind words left on our lemon rock and Facebook pages;

"Hi, saw you guys at the Mutley Crown last night. We had a cancellation and thought we would come down and have a listen. Have to say that we havent seen many bands in the south west that impressed us but you lot did. Excellent vocals! and some sweet guitar ( i want that PRS!! ) Not really into electric kits, prefer the old fashioned approach but yours sounded ok. Keep Music Live!!!!!! Paul - Revival - paul"

"Saw you for the first time on Good Friday. What a brilliant gig! Hannah has such a powerful voice. Amazing band, very professional. I loved every second of it and I hope I'll be able to see you again soon!x"

Thanks Paul and Nicola!!

01/04/09: Looks like we are in for a quiet month this month, what with some of us being away etc. We celebrated our gigaversary last weekend with the Postie in Plympton and The Pretoria Vaults in Okehampton. The Postie as always was great fun. We were bold over by the Okehampton crowd, very welcoming and up for a dang goood time!! So 59 gigs in our first year, not bad eh? Could'nt have done it without the support from all you folk.....

04/01/09: Happy new year every boby!! We played a new years eve party at Plymouth Albion and some one was kind enough to write us an unpromted review on the lemon rock website:

"You guys were brilliant . . . Sorry I can't remember your names . . But the guitarist was brilliant especially in sweet child of mine! Shame the electrics cut off though at the start . . The vocals were brill as well it was awsome they way you changed the style an made it your own (foo fighters - pretender + anastacia ) the bass was great although im just starting bass ive never seen a six stringed bass . . the only thing is maybe in your future performances you could like show of your skills a bit more .. Just a suggestion . . N last but not least the drums . . Dude you rock didnt your arms/wrists hurt after the gig? . Basically what im trying to say is you are a brilliant band an I think you made that new years eve party bloody brilliant please come back next year if there is a party thing there! Have a great new year! : ).keep rockin !!"

Thanks for the kind words Shona. We took a recording of this gig and we will be putting some of it online soon.

06/10/08: Hello everyone! That's been a long time since our last news update so we thought we better write something up here. We have had a succession of really good gigs since last update, this weekend saw us playing for the first time in the Millbridge Inn (as a full band). Very well received as per usual, it was also nice to see some friendly faces from a few other local bands on the circuit, members of Joker, Rusty Angels and Red Vegas were spotted in the crowd. Thanks for the kind feedback guys!

Speaking of the local Plymouth circuit, we are struggling to get gigs in a couple of the local venues well known for having live music. If you want to do us a massive favour and name drop to the staff, then that would go a really long way for us, believe it or not! We are slowly breaking out of the Plymouth area however, with new gigs on the list in Exeter, Torquay and Paignton, exciting times ahead for sure!!!

Next gig is The good old Postie, always a good gig for us, great atmosphere and acoustics to boot! This is why we are going to record the gig, to use as a new demo cd. So please, come down and make soon noise for us.

15/09/08: Well, its been a busy weekend for us, Friday saw us playing a new venue for the band, The Mutley Crown, we were warmly received by a some what small yet friendly crowd, apparently it was an unusually quiet night on Mutley plain. But we still did our thing well and played for the sheer love of playing as always. Due to an already full diary in the Crown, we should be back there next year, and already looking forward to it. Thanks to the camo girls and the girl that wants to play guitar and drums, you looked to be enjoying it as much as we were!!

Then came Saturday's first of two gigs, The Filham Music Festival , was a good day by all accounts, we played for an hour, then with just enough time to sample the hog roast, loaded up the van and headed down to the Post Office Inn, for our final gig of the weekend. And what a gig it was! The place was packed with people, and come the end of the set the noise of the crowd calling out for more was deafening! We even managed to blow our stage monitors, nice rock'n'roll ending for a trusty bit of gear!!! We return to the Postie on 10th October, and we plan on taking a live recording for our next demo, so please please please come on down and make lots of noise.

So all in all a great weekend, our third gig + hog roast and we got to make a few new friends aswell as seeing some old friends and familiar faces. Thanks to you all for your support. Also thanks so much to Lou, this would all be so much harder with out all your hard work, big thumbs (or claws) up to you from all us Kittens!

While the band is having next weekend off, Hannah and Charlie are doing their acoustic thing The Pause in the Millbridge Inn on Sunday between six and eight in the evening. So if you fancy it, we would love to see you down there.

We return to the Staddy the weekend after and then its off to Blue Cargo in Torquay, we should have a couple more surprise numbers in the set by then, so be sure to check it out. We may even surpass our latest addition - Mama Mia, Oh yes, you love it and so do we!!!

That's all for now, peace out : )

09/09/08: Little bit of gig news for the weekend. Fridays Help for Heros charity event has been postponed until further notice, but we have just got a gig in the Mutley Crown to replace it. Its the first time that we have played there and we are all ready to get stuck in to a new venue and crowd!

This Saturday we are playing The Filham Festival in Ivybridge in the afternoon, then we are heading back to the Post Office Inn for an evening gig. We have added a couple more fun songs in to the set, so be sure to listen out for them!

28/08/08: Just a quick note to say that we have given up with MySpace, since no one seams to use it anymore apart from other bands it seams to have been a non starter for us. We do still have our Facebook group though so social networkers can head on over to that, just follow the Facebook link on the home page. If anyone wants to suggest any other websites we can get on, or comment on this then please drop us a line through the contact page. Thankfully we will no longer see the words "Sorry! an unexpected error has occurred. This error has been forwarded to MySpace's technical group". We are also putting together a links page, if any one wants to trade links or thinks we should link to a particular website, please let us know...

21/08/08: After another three great gigs in a row we are having a bit of time off at the moment. The Postoffice inn was a cracker as usual, Hans dad Wally made a guest appearance for a song too. Then we were off to a field in Bere Alston for the day (and night), for a wedding gig, lots of rain, mud and stripping men, all good fun. Then we played a set on the Hoe right before the fireworks championship started, went down a storm and no rain this time!! Remember you can check out pics from our gigs at the bottom of the gigs page. Thanks Plymouth Sound for the Hoe gig, we will see you again on the 13th sept, cant wait.

We are back in action again in the Cherry Tree Plymouth on the 29th, unless something comes up before.

28/07/08: Last Friday night saw us heading back up to Jack Chams in Tavistock, unfortunately during setup we did hit some technical problems, that we didn't manage to resolve as quickly and as well as we would have liked. We trojand on however through a difficult first set and once the problems were solved, we really started to enjoy our selves, spurred on by a very warm and receptive crowd. In the end we really felt we had worked the kitten magic once again! Apologies to the bar staff and the people in the bar when we sound checked, hope the sequelly noises weren't too intrusive. We have got to the bottom of it now so next time should run allot smoother with no feedback. Also speaking of next time round, we got some requests on Friday night, that we are hoping to fulfill next time we play there, which incidentally is Halloween, fancy dress any one?

More news now, as we have been booked by Plymouth Sound to play on their stage for the opening of the National Fireworks championships on Plymouth Hoe on the 12th August, cant wait for that one!!

For our Next gig we are playing at the Postoffice Inn, in Plympton, last time was a cracker, and we expect this time to be as good if not better.

22/07/08: Had an interesting gig last Saturday, being Charlie's birthday and all he was allowed off his leash for the night and had a few to many shandys and made a few to many mistakes. Still the atmosphere was absolutely fantastic in Bere Alston, and the crowd laughed and danced along with us. We received some very good feedback which surprised us as we know we hadn't played our best. We also heard there's a possibility of us getting another gig in there before our next booked one in October, TBC of course. Now we have our sights set on Jack Chams Tavistock, and with a few bits of upgraded kit on our sound system and a sober guitarist, we think it will be a blinder!

17/07/08: We are very much looking forward to our first return gig in Bere Alston, expecting a busy venue with a bit of luck. To make it even more special we plan to record this gig, so it should be one to remember for sure! Also there have been some changes to our gig guide, one of our regular venues The Plymstock Inn has sadly closed down, and its future seams unsure so we have regrettably had to open those dates back up for bookings, including new years eve : (. We all wish Brain and co from the "Plymy" all the best for the future.

15/07/08: Those of you who have been to any of our gigs will know that between our first and second set, Hannah and Charlie perform a short acoustic set. This has inspired a side project for them called "The Pause" ie the pause between sets, or a kittens paws, little play on words there, thanks Lou! The plan is that The Pause will be an acoustic duo playing smaller venues when the main band arent gigging. Vicious Kitten will always come first of course so fear not. However we are all exicited about this new project all the same, they have recorded some songs that can be heard on their website:www.ThePause.co.uk . They hope to be taking bookings from late August/September if not sooner.

11/07/08: Website news, you can now listen to our demo by clicking on the play button on the home page. We may be adding some more studio and live tracks over the next few months, perhaps even some original material. In the mean time we hope you enjoy whats there now...

10/07/08: With spirits lowered by the news of a gig cancellation for the Dirt bike rally, we were uplifted again yesterday by the news of three more bookings for next year at the Victoria Social club in Bere Alston. Valentines day, american independence day and boxing day. Noticing a bit for a theme there? The mood in camp was lifted again today as we have secured a gig in the Saltash Inn this Saturday the 12th July.

Also news on the website side of things, we are starting to put some photos online of gigs gone by. Lou our engineer/lighting operator/roadie some times takes a snap of the crowd while we are playing, if you think she may have caught you on film (well, memory card), take a look at the bottom end of our gig page. So far only one gigs worth of photos are on there, but we are catching up slowly, so there will be more to follow very soon. Watch that space....

09/07/08: We have just been informed that due to the rainy weather, the dirt bike rally this Saturday has been cancelled. We are hoping it may get rescheduled, in which case watch this space. So looks like we have a weekend off, unless any last minute gigs come through. Next gig on the books at the moment is out in Bere Alston in the Victoria social club, this is where we played our first gig as it happens, to a great crowd. So we are very much looking forward to it. If any one has any thing for us in the mean time please just drop us a line.

07/07/08: Wow what a great couple of gigs we had this weekend. We covered for a last minute cancellation for the Postoffice Inn in Plympton, which was a great success. We now have a few more bookings in there this year including Christmas eve which we are all really excited about, cant wait to play those cheesy xmas songs! Saturday saw us in the Chaddlewood Community Centre for the local summer fair. Unfortunately the weather was not very fair, so we set up in the function room, another very enjoyable gig to add to the list. Massive thank yous go to Andy and Steve from The Vibes for recommending us for that gig, as well as everyone who saw us play this weekend, had a boogie, and gave us such kind compliments and support.

29/06/2008: Website goes live. More news to follow as and when!
